Locals and visitors to the city love the market and decorations on Vienna’s Rathausplatz (City Hall Square).

The Magic of Advent in Vienna is a favorite place to meet, with many visitors returning several times each season. Young families, teens and tourists are particularly enchanted by the yuletide atmosphere on City Hall Square. It comes as no surprise that the Magic of Advent in Vienna is known as Europe’s most child-friendly Christmas market.

A new lighting concept featuring a number of additions will ensure that the Magic of Advent in Vienna makes a still more dazzling impression this year. Still more glittering lamps will enhance the festive atmosphere, drawing visitors away for a gentle stroll apart from the hubbub of the main market.

A tour of the beautifully decorated Rathauspark – where the famous Heart Tree, festooned with 280 glowing hearts, awaits – has written the opening chapter to many a love story over the years. And perhaps you will meet the Vienna Christ Child on its walk around the park, or listen when it reads a Christmas story in front of the crib.

There is a packed program of arts and crafts for kids and teens at the Christmas workshop. During the six weeks of the Magic of Advent, youngsters are hard at work painting, shaping, turning, sawing, stenciling, applying glitter, threading beads, sticking, firing, decorating and packing as they create a total of around 70,000 presents for their parents and grandparents. Over the years the Christmas workshops have featured virtually every imaginable art and craft. Some of the creative spirits who tried their hand at arts and crafts in the workshops back in the 1980s are now returning as adults, and can’t wait for their own children’s first cookies and artwork.

The vibrant and colorful Christmas market, offering a vast array of Christmas handicrafts, tree decorations and other yuletide gift ideas, is the centerpiece of the Magic of Advent in Vienna.

Evocative Advent aromas, festive concerts, a tall tree blazing with countless Christmas lights against the backdrop of City Hall, and the enchantingly decorated Rathauspark are just some of the highlights that give the Magic of Advent in Vienna its unique appeal.

This year the official opening will take place on November 13 and run until 6 p.m. on December 24, when Christmas really is just around the corner.

Air passengers have been warned to remember hand luggage rules when they go to the airport.

Terminal 1 at Manchester Airport re-opened at 11:50am on 17/09/2010 after it was evacuated at 08:50am as a precautionary measure while police investigated a suspicious bag.

At approximately 8.50am Friday 17th September, Terminal 1 at Manchester Airport was evacuated while a suspicious bag was investigated at the main security search area by Greater Manchester Police.

An evacuation is a standard precautionary measure while the investigation is completed to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff.

The bag was identified by security staff as part of the normal hand baggage security process in Terminal 1.

Although an investigation by specialists from Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the bag was not a threat, we would like to pay tribute to our highly trained security staff. They view millions of x-ray images but any suspicious items have to be taken seriously to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff as was the case today.

Around 1200 passengers and 20 flights in Terminal 1 were affected by the disruption. Operations at Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 were not affected by the evacuation of Terminal 1, which was closed for approximately three hours.

Steinau an der Strasse is the magical town where the authors of some of the best loved children’s fairy stories spent their formative years. It is where the Brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm spent their childhood. They wrote the enchanting stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella or Hansel and Gretel.

Steinau is situated in the Kinzig valley about 50 minutes by train away from Frankfurt. It is like stepping back in time to a fairy tale town with a street of medieval half timbered houses, a splendid renaissance palace, a Puppet Theatre and a magnificent Town hall. The oldest, permanently inhabited house dates back to1520 and it is also a private museum and well worth a visit.

The beauty of Steinau is that almost all its splendid attractions are within a short walk of where ever you choose to stay.

The hotel’s operation company The Rocco Forte Collection, project developer Raiffeisen Evolution and Owner Waldeck Capital LLC are delighted to announce their nomination celebrating the challenge of restoring more than 800 years of art and architecture in creating The Augustine, in line with rigorous guidelines set out by the Czech conservation authorities.

The seven buildings, all dating to different eras (and including the 13th century Augustinian monastery of St Thomas), with distinct structures and built from diverse materials on various levels, had to be integrated into a seamless blend of old and new, while remaining true to their heritage.

To provide an idea of the complexity of the buildings and the innovative approach required to construct a hotel around the monastery’s historic highlights, no two guest rooms out of the 101 inventory are the same and no less than four differently placed passenger lifts were required to allow simple, short access for every guest.

With The Augustine located in the heart of Prague, in the Lesser Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the hotel plays an important part in the area’s living history, ensuring the future of these stunning buildings alongside that of its former inhabitants – the monks, who still live and practise in part of the monastery.

The world’s largest property forum, MIPIM (Marché International des Professionels d’Immobilier) takes place annually in Cannes, bringing together industry decision makers from around the globe and providing them with an opportunity to meet, network and showcase their latest developments – in one place, to one hugely influential audience.

Key historic features such as cloistered terraces, wooden ceilings, stalactites and stalagmites, and stone arches have been incorporated into the hotel’s design.

There are some 90 artists in the main exhibition, Making Worlds. Participating countries are amounting to the record number of 77, with exhibitions in their own pavilions, and a further 44 collateral events from international institutes and organizations are exhibited in various places across the city of Venice…
